This website is a large reference manual to describe a spiralling series of
decision process steps--and accompanying concepts--for getting things done in government.
High Five: Excellence in
Web Design
"The High Five evolved from a weekly review site into a
design magazine geared to the designer learning how
to maneuver in and around this medium. Every month
we feature interviews, articles, news, and (of course)
reviews of the best sites on the Web."
Interface Design for Sun's
WWW Site
contains several iterations of Sun's home page and icon designs as well as the
usability engineering methods used in the design process. This site is authored by Jakob
Nielsen, but the usability pages are not the same as the ones in the following link. Visit
both sites.
z
"A network of websites sharing the common belief that anyone can build a great
website if given knowledge, guidance and inspiration. There's something for everyone
within, from the first time webmaker to the designer with years of experience."
Design Resource List
from Siegel's Successful Websites Site. Arranged under partnerships, boutiques,
agencies, and engineering firms. Be sure to take a look at the portfolios of these
designers as well as at their own sites. Some I've looked at are excellent creative
hypertexts, for example, the exhibits of Peter Horvath and Sharon Matarrazo at 6168. --ejc 2/2/99
Deadly
Sins of Web Design, from Daniel O'Neil at Rensselear Polytechnic Institute, with
strategies for avoiding/correcting them; includes references to sources which may be found
from the course texts link from O'Neil's course site Writing to the World Wide Web.
Some of the references are to your Non-Designer's Design Book. --ejc
