Resources:

The Writing Center (Hibbs 330)
The Writing Center is a valuable resource and tutors are available for any student to receive feedback on written work.  You should plan on visiting the Writing Center at least twice during the semester for feedback on your drafts.  Help is given on a first-come, first-served basis, so be prepared to wait.  I strongly recommend that you visit the Center early, rather than wait for the end (when everybody else will also be visiting)

The Computer Center (Hibbs 331)
Using a word processor is vital for this class.  There are computer consultants on duty in the Computer Center to assist you.  The consultants (in Hibbs 331) also work in the Writing Center, and can often help in both areas.  There are also labs in the basement of Hibbs and in the library.  Printing costs nine cents per page (you'll need to put money on your VCU ID card to print).  Plan on photocopying drafts for workshop and on printing out the essays we'll discuss in class.

Cabell Library
<http://www.library.vcu.edu/
Reference librarians love to match students with sources!  (see Guide 117-121)  Get to know the library.  Ask the librarians for help.  (I used to work in a library.  Trust me.  We love to help people find information)

Online Readings
<http://www.has.vcu.edu/writing/eng200/read200.htm
Again, most of the essays we read this semester will be posted online at the above address. Contact me if you can't remember the ID and password.  Readings are organized alphabetically by the author's last name.

Blackboard Course Information
<http://zeus.vcu.edu
Everybody registered for the class is also enrolled in my Blackboard course.  Blackboard is a web-authoring program that I plan to use primarily for its communication features.  Once you go to Blackboard, you'll be prompted for a login and password.  Login:  first initial, last name, last four digits of your SSN] (disregard commas)  For example,  Jane Doe's login name would be jdoe1234, assuming that 1234 were the last four digits of her SSN.  Password:  Your SSN without dashes or spaces.  The information (content) found on Blackboard is identical to what you will find at http://www.courses.vcu.edu/ENG-snh under "English 200."
