physical properties- black odorless powder

acute effects- irritant to skin, mucous membranes, & eyes 

symptoms of overexposure- may impair the central nervous system, resulting in sluggishness, sleepiness, muscle weakness, loss of facial muscle control, edema, emotional disturbances, spastic gait, & falling

chronic poisoning may develop after as little as 3 months of heavy exposure, but usually after 1-3 years 

may cause gastric or intestinal disorders, nausea
