BLOOD TRACING PROBLEMS

BIO 205 BASIC HUMAN ANATOMY

In the following pathways, be able to list in order all arteries, veins, capillaries, valves and heart chambers through which blood flows. There may be more than one correct pathway. Just choose one.

To solve these problems, you must know blood flow through the heart and blood vessels listed in your lab manual. You must also study text diagrams and lecture notes for blood flow through the liver, myocardium, and fetal circulation.

NOTE: Start and end in capillaries. (Why?) The pattern in the answers will be the following: capillaries - veins - heart - arteries - capillaries.

Trace a drop of oxygen-containing blood from the lungs to the brain

Trace a drop of blood from a lung to the right side of the face

Trace a drop of blood from deep leg muscles to the lungs

Trace the blood pathway for waste-containing blood from the forearm to the kidney

Trace adrenalin from the adrenal gland to the myocardium

Trace the pathway for nutrient-laden blood from the small intestine to the diaphragm

Trace blood from the myocardium back to the myocardium

Trace food from the placenta to the fetal spleen

Trace waste from the fetal brain to the placenta
